The Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation, a dynamic arm of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha based in Berbice, proudly celebrates its 19th anniversary, continuing to stand as a beacon of dhārmic values, cultural education, and youth empowerment.
Founded with the mission of instilling in youth a deep connection to Sanātana Dharma, the organisation has grown into a nurturing space where the principles of Knowledge, Discipline, and Service guide its many programs and initiatives. Over nearly two decades, Golden Om has built a vibrant community of young Hindus who are committed to living with purpose, compassion, and cultural pride.
In keeping with its tradition of engaging and educating young minds, the organisation is currently hosting its much-anticipated annual Veda Youth Camp at the Reliance Veda Centre, East Canje, Berbice. Themed “Jñānam śaktih, sevā dharmah, yuvā preraņā” — “Knowledge is power, service is duty, youth is inspiration” — the camp brings together dozens of youth participants for a week of spiritual learning and personal growth.
The camp features a rich tapestry of activities, including bhajans, daily prayers, arts & crafts, dance, music, interactive games, and guided conversations on contemporary social issues and personal development. Through these experiences, campers deepen their understanding of Hindu values while developing leadership skills and lasting friendships.
One of the highlights of this year’s camp will be the Camp Tour on July 20th, which will take participants on a spiritual journey to temples along the East Coast of Demerara and in Georgetown. This excursion offers campers an opportunity to connect with Hindu communities beyond their own, strengthening their appreciation for the unity and diversity within the national Hindu landscape.
Speaking on the significance of the camp, organisers emphasized that initiatives like these are crucial in helping youth build confidence, character, and a clear sense of identity rooted in their dhārmic heritage.
As Golden Om enters its 20th year, its commitment remains steadfast: to nurture a generation of leaders who are proud of their culture, grounded in their faith, and driven by a spirit of selfless service.
