The Sanatan Hindu community is mourning the passing of a revered leader, Senator Deoroop Teemal, who departed this world early this morning at the age of 68.
Senator Teemal was a man of deep wisdom, unwavering dharmic commitment, and distinguished public service. He held several prominent roles in national and cultural life — most notably as an Independent Senator in the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, President of the National Council of Indian Culture (NCIC), and Sanghachalak of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS).
Senator Teemal was first appointed to the Independent bench of the Senate in November 2018, where he served with integrity and quiet strength. His election as President of the NCIC in April 2023 came at a pivotal time for the organization, following the passing of the late Dr. Deokienanan Sharma. Under his stewardship, the NCIC continued its mission to promote Indian culture, Sanatan Dharma, and national unity through education, the arts, and social outreach.
Professionally, he was a seasoned Civil & Structural Engineer and Project Manager, with over 37 years of experience—a testament to his intellect, discipline, and commitment to nation-building.
