The vibrant spirit of Sanatan Dharma echoed through the streets of Samabula as the Rath Yatra Festival was celebrated with immense devotion and cultural fervor. Organized by Shree Satsang Ramayan Mandali at the historic Shiv Mandir, the occasion witnessed a remarkable turnout of devotees, including dignitaries and community leaders.
Among the notable participants was High Commissioner of India to Fiji, Shri Suneet Mehta, who expressed his honor and joy in being part of the sacred event. “It is heartening to see the deep-rooted devotion of our diaspora and how beautifully they preserve and celebrate our ancient traditions abroad,” he stated.
The beautifully adorned chariot of Lord Jagannath, accompanied by Balabhadra and Subhadra, was ceremonially pulled by devotees in a traditional procession. Chanting of “Jai Jagannath” and bhajans filled the air as the Rath made its way to the Fiji Sevashram Sangha, continuing the rich legacy of spiritual celebration.
The event was not just a religious affair but a vibrant expression of Fiji’s Hindu community’s commitment to preserving Indian culture and dharmic values. The procession symbolized unity, reverence, and the timeless teachings of Lord Jagannath that transcend geography.
As the sun set on this divine occasion, prayers were offered for the health, happiness, and prosperity of all. The celebration stands as a powerful reminder of how Indian traditions continue to flourish globally, nurtured by faith and community spirit.
